The agreement between you and Carinly. Written to be read, because an agreement nobody can read protects nobody.
Effective 28 August 2026 · Version 1.0
Carinly is run by one person, as a sole proprietorship in Ontario, Canada.
These terms are an agreement between you and Jeremy Reid, trading as Carinly, of 446 Uxbridge-Pickering Townline, Uxbridge, Ontario L9P 1R4, Canada.
By creating an account you accept them. If you do not, do not use the app.
Carinly is for adults, and the app checks.
You must be eighteen or older. The app asks for your date of birth during sign up and will not create an account for anyone younger. If we find an account belonging to a child we will remove it.
A private space for two people, and nothing else.
Carinly is for one couple at a time. An account connects to exactly one partner, using a code one of you shares with the other. There is no feed, no public profile, and no way for anyone outside your pair to see what is in it.
Most of the app does nothing until two people are connected. That is by design, not a fault.
Fourteen days free from the day you connect, then one subscription for both of you.
The trial is fourteen days and starts the day the two of you pair, not the day you sign up. Somebody who downloads Carinly alone and spends a week persuading their partner to join should not lose a week of it.
After that it is $14.99 CAD a month, shown in your own currency inside the app. One subscription covers both people. Whoever pays, you are both in; there is no second bill.
Payment is taken by Apple or Google, not by us. We never see your card. Your subscription renews through your app store account until you cancel it there.
Cancel in your app store. Refunds are theirs to give, not ours.
Cancel any time in the App Store or Google Play. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and nothing you made is deleted when a subscription lapses.
Refunds are handled entirely by the store that took the payment. We cannot issue one, because the money never reaches us directly. Apple and Google each have their own refund process, and consumer law where you live may give you rights beyond them.
Your messages, photos and notes belong to you. We do not claim them.
Everything you put into Carinly remains yours. We take no ownership of it and no licence to publish it, show it to anyone, or use it for advertising.
We store and transmit it for one purpose: showing it to you and to the partner you are connected with. That is the whole of the permission you give us, and it ends when you delete your account.
Tell us and we will take it down.
Nothing in Carinly is public, so there is little scope for this. But if you believe something in the app or on carinly.com uses your copyrighted work without permission, write to hello@carinly.com with what it is, where you saw it, and enough to show the work is yours.
We will remove it or tell you why we have not, and where somebody else put it there we will tell them it has gone and why.
Do not use Carinly to hurt the person on the other end of it, or anybody else.
You agree not to use Carinly to harass, threaten, stalk, coerce or abuse another person, including your partner. You agree not to upload anything unlawful, and never anything sexual involving a minor.
You agree not to impersonate somebody else, share an account, try to reach data belonging to another couple, or attack, overload or reverse engineer the service.
If somebody is hurting you through this app, write to us. Unpairing is always available from inside the app and needs nobody's permission but your own.
There is a Report a problem button in your profile. A person reads every one.
Carinly connects two people who chose each other, so there is no feed of strangers to moderate. What there is, sometimes, is somebody using the app to hurt the person they are paired with.
Two things are open to you, and they are different.
We aim to answer within three days. We may close an account under the section above, and where the report is about somebody hurting you we may act faster than the ordinary notice period allows.
If we close your account you can appeal. Write to the same address and a person will look again. We will tell you what we decided and why.
For abuse, for something illegal, or where somebody is being put at risk.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks the section above. Where it is reasonable to do so we will say why first and give you a chance to answer. Where somebody is at risk of harm we will act immediately and explain afterwards.
We may also have to act on a lawful order from a court or a regulator.
Two ways out, both inside the app, neither needing our involvement.
Unpair ends the connection between the two of you and clears what was shared. Both accounts go back to how they started. Either of you can do it alone.
Delete account removes your account, your profile and the shared parts of your relationship. Anything belonging to your partner alone stays with them: your leaving should not delete their memories.
Both are in Profile, and both ask you to type the word out so neither can happen by accident.
We will not promise the app is never down, or that a translation is always right.
Carinly is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and accurate, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that any machine translation will be correct.
Translation is a machine, and it is sometimes wrong. That is why your original words are always kept underneath the translated version: where the two disagree, the original is what was said.
Carinly is not a backup service. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot bear to lose. There is an export in Profile that produces everything you have put in.
If something goes wrong, what we owe is capped at what you paid us.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim connected to Carinly is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits or lost data.
Nothing here removes rights that cannot be removed. Consumer protection law in your country may give you guarantees no agreement can sign away, and those still apply.
If we change something that matters, we will tell you in the app first.
The date at the top is when this version took effect. Small corrections happen quietly; anything that changes what you pay, what you may do, or what we may do about it will be shown to you in the app before it applies.
Carrying on using Carinly after that is acceptance. If you would rather not, you can cancel and delete your account.
Write to us first. Almost everything ends there.
Before anything formal, email hello@carinly.com and say what is wrong and what you would like done. We will reply, and we will try to settle it within thirty days.
Nothing here forces you into arbitration and nothing here stops you going to court. You keep every right you have to bring a claim, and to take part in a group or class claim where the law where you live allows one. The next section says which courts.
Ontario, Canada, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or anywhere with its own mandatory consumer rules, you keep the protection of the law where you live and may bring a claim in your local courts.
The ordinary bits, kept short.
If one part fails, the rest stands. A clause a court will not enforce is removed and everything else continues.
These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about Carinly, and they replace anything said before.
Not enforcing something once does not give it up. If we let something go, we can still act on it another time.
You cannot transfer your account to somebody else. If Carinly is ever sold or transferred, this agreement moves with it and your rights under it do not change.
Email us. A person reads it.
